Life changes when you change your life. Of all the people I’ve spoken to, it’s those who tell me I sparked a life-changing experience that touches me most. Their stories bring me to tears because life and death are in the power of the tongue.
A simple word of motivation at the right time can ignite major change. I’m humbled when a 79 year old woman credits me for pressing on to finish her first OCR. Or when a racer says I made them smile and laugh through my words. That’s life-changing.
This platform is an honor I don’t take lightly. Knowing my voice makes an impact keeps me striving to improve and give my best. It’s life-changing for me too.
I see the greatness in each of you and want to ignite that. Your best days are ahead. With focused action, you will create a better you.
My hope is that these messages inspire, motivate and give you laser focus. That they spark life change from within. You deserve to thrive fully alive.
So let this be the day you step forward boldly toward your potential. Make different choices, take new action. Allow life change to unfold.
And if these words resonate, please subscribe! Together we’ll ignite change. This is Jean signing off – now go light your fire!
Save your blood, sweat, and tears. Corporate go-getters often flame out before going anywhere, but experts say sensible slackers can waltz to the top. Here’s how to ditch the worker-bee rules and adopt a stress-free, healthy, and productive lifestyle.
New Rule: Losers Quit; Winners Cut Their Losses
Perseverance isn’t helpful if you’re digging a hole. Canadian researchers found that even when inventors are advised to give up on a hopeless project, 29 percent continue to invest money, and 51 percent continue to invest time. Seldman says to continuously reevaluate your projects to see if they’re worth the effort—or if the end goal is even possible. “Understand sunk costs,” he says. “Don’t get caught up in the investment you’ve already paid.”
New Rule: Play Hard to Get
Sure, e-mail is efficient, but researchers at the University of California at Irvine found that people take an average of 25 minutes to get back to business after a distraction. Total damage: Up to 2.1 wasted hours a day, another study found. “Be disciplined. Allow chunks of time uninterrupted by e-mail,” says Donald E. Wetmore, J.D., M.B.A., author of The Productivity Handbook. Attend to the inbox during low-energy points, saving high-energy times for more important jobs. If the boss really needs you, he’ll call.
New Rule: Multitasking Stalls Your System
Even though brain activity rises when you focus on multiple tasks, your performance suffers, according to researchers at Carnegie Mellon. “Avoiding distractions isn’t always possible, so you need to learn how to rapidly refocus,” says David Allen, the author of Getting Things Done and Making It All Work. Develop a system to jog your memory, such as jotting down new tasks (“Call Fred”), putting them aside, and staying focused on your current work.
New Rule: Be Perfect Only When It Matters
Perfectionists who obsess over little details can sometimes miss the things that count the most. For example, 37 percent of workers blamed such exacting tendencies for missed deadlines, according to one study presented in 2003. So be smarter. Seldman recommends identifying tasks you can do without fine-tuning, and spending most of your time on everything else. When you realize your less-than-perfect work is just fine, your agony will abate.
New Rule: Underpromise, Overdeliver
“You have only one time when you can manage expectations, and that’s in the beginning,” says Marty Seldman, Ph.D., coauthor of Executive Stamina. So set yourself up for success. If you can do a job in 3 days, say you’ll do it in 5—and then take time to add special finishing touches before turning it in “early.” It’s an easy way to impress: University of Florida researchers found that people are much happier about unexpected positive results than they are about predictable ones.
When you break it down, “responsibility” contains “response” and “ability”. Our responses reveal our character. Our ability determines our effort.
Together, how we choose to respond paired with the effort we’re able to give – this is true responsibility. And it’s what pushes us to new levels.
We all have exciting goals ahead. But reaching them requires patient, focused responses and consistent effort day by day.
Rather than reacting, respond intentionally. And pour your full capabilities into the task, no matter how small. Compound effort adds up.
Upholding responsibility in all areas unlocks growth and greatness. Keep working to improve both your responses and abilities.
And know there are others responsibly pushing you too – we all rise together. Surround yourself with those who call forth your best.
So what’s your responsibility regarding your goals? How can you respond better and give more effort daily? Let me know!

Jean here to honor an inspiring hero from West Virginia – Mr. Alvarado.
While many raced this weekend, Alvarado’s journey especially stood out. He was terrified to run the Sprint and Super back-to-back, having never attempted it before.
At the start line, I sensed his fear. But I told him the fear just meant the journey ahead was meaningful. We grow through challenges.
I reminded him it’s not the dog in the fight but the fight in the dog. With determination, anything is possible.
Alvarado persevered through pain and finished both races at his own steady pace. Afterwards, we embraced and shed tears together, knowing the mental strength it required.
He inspires me because he never gave up despite fear. He stayed in the fight and unleashed the fight within. In the end, he earned an incredible double trifecta!
So to all of you out there this Monday, remember Alvarado’s journey. You are stronger than you know. It’s not what’s in you but what you unleash that makes you a Spartan.
Lean into your discomfort. Go further than seems possible. You have an inner well of grit waiting to be tapped.
Give all that you can. Be your very best. The fight in YOU can surmount any obstacle. Keep believing!
And if these stories help you unleash your inner warrior, please subscribe! Together we’ll conquer mountains.
This is Jean signing off. Now get out there and run like Alvarado!
Happy Monday all! Jean here with your motivation after an emotional weekend in West Virginia.
I went back to face some personal demons. Last year, I suffered the devastating loss of my mother there. Returning was traumatic but necessary for my healing.
I had to speak life into others at races while quietly dealing with inner grief. After bottling emotions, I knew I must process them.
Facing pain head-on is hard but it prevents festering wounds. I refused to let my soul become a victim – I embrace being the victor.
Confronting emotions freed me from sadness and depression. I broke the chains of the past to step into a hopeful future.
So my message today is – don’t let your dreams die in your personal cemeteries. Many goals get buried because we don’t put in the work.
It may feel difficult or impossible sometimes. I get impatient too. But with consistent effort, you will manifest those dreams.
Stay focused on your vision every single day. Ignore distractions and keep grinding. You have greatness within you waiting to emerge.
Let this be the day you start actively unearthing it. Dig deep. You deserve to thrive fully alive.
If these Monday motivations help you dig up and achieve dreams, please subscribe! Together we’ll turn visions into reality.

Happy Monday! This is Jean with a motivation on failure.
We’ve all experienced failure. It can reveal character and heart. How you respond to failure defines you.
Some people let failure paralyze them for years. But the healthiest mindset is “fail forward.” If it won’t matter in 5 years, don’t let it ruin more than 5 minutes.
Of course, deep wounds take time to heal. Renew your mind, body and spirit so you emerge stronger. Use failures as lessons to evolve.
In 2014, I tore my ACL at a Spartan race. A stranger said “You’ll be back.” Though recovery was painful, I persevered.
A year later, I returned – wiser and tougher. I even cussed out the obstacle that took me down! Failing forward made my comeback sweet.
We all stumble. How quickly you reframe and regroup determines your success. Let failures forge you.
Be resilient, not defeated. Recover with wisdom. And remember – you’re braver than you believe.
So fail forward fast this week. Each lesson makes you better. You got this!
And if these Monday motivations help you refocus after failures, please subscribe! Together we’ll turn stumbles into victories.
This is Jean signing off. Look forward to seeing you conquering new heights! Now go win the day.
Happy Monday all! Jean here with a quick motivation . Way to conquer out there!
Today’s message is short but powerful: it doesn’t matter where you stand, it matters where you’re moving forward to.
We all have plans and dreams. But spending too much time planning and not enough time progressing is a trap.
At some point, you’ve got to take action and start heading toward the finish line. Momentum compounds when you keep moving.
So my challenge to you this week is to get momentum on your top goal. Ask yourself daily: What action can I take TODAY to get closer to my end game?
Even small progress creates energy and builds belief. Keep asking the hard “how” questions. Then relentlessly seek the answers.
You have greatness within you but it takes focused movement to manifest it. So get out of the stands and onto the playing field!
I believe in you. Now believe in yourself enough to start actively pursuing your potential, one step at a time.
If these Monday motivations are helping you gain momentum, please subscribe! Together, we’ll turn dreams into reality.
This is Jean signing off. Now get moving and make it happen!
Good morning Spartans and fellow competitors! Jean here with your Monday Motivation on my way home from an epic weekend in Vegas.
Major shoutout to everyone who raced this weekend and conquered those courses. It was so inspiring to see you push your limits out there! Chad, Eric, TJ, and my podium finishers – you all made me proud.
Knowing I played a small role in motivating you fills me with humility and gratitude. It is an honor to speak life into your journeys.
That brings me to today’s topic – grace. With tensions high lately, grace seems in short supply.
Yet freely giving grace is key to living fully. Grace means extending mercy not resentment, empathy not judgment.
When someone wrongs you, grace says “I forgive”. When you fall short, grace says “I understand”. Grace gives others – and yourself – room to be imperfect humans.
This week, lead with grace. Offer compassion freely and judgment sparingly. Give the benefit of the doubt. Surrender resentment and embrace understanding.
Grace has the power to heal relationships and unlock growth. By lifting others up, you lift yourself.
Live gracefully, race gracefully, and spread goodness everywhere you go. Shine bright out there!
If this resonated, please subscribe to keep these weekly motivations coming. Together, we rise. This is Jean signing off, now go be extraordinary!
Good morning all! Mr. Jean here with a Monday Motivation about the power of FOCUS.
When you focus your energy on the right goals, people, and mindset – you’ll get the right results. But focus is easier said than done!
Life pulls us in so many directions. Distractions try to break our focus. Even losing an hour of sleep from daylight savings can throw us off!
But champions stay focused despite obstacles. They silence self-doubt and keep taking aligned action.
Rather than “Why me?” – tell yourself “Try me!” Let your focus drown out any negativity. Keep your mind centered on your purpose.
Tunnel vision on the prize ahead. The path to achievement requires focus and grit. This week, get laser focused on your biggest goals.
Cut out distractions and time wasters. Funnel all your effort into productive progress.
You have unlimited potential, but realizing it demands focus. So get out there and OWN the day! Keep taking steps focused on your dreams.
If these motivational messages are helping you stay focused, please subscribe to keep them coming every Monday! Together, we got this.
This is Jean signing off until next week. Now cue the eye of the tiger music and get going!
Good morning champions! Mr.J’ean here with a Monday Motivation all about hope.
I hope these weekly pep talks have been uplifting your spirits and empowering you to start the week strong. It brings me joy to speak life and encouragement into your journey.
Today, I want to remind you that hope is one of the most powerful forces within us. When life knocks us down, hope lifts us back up. Like Rocky Balboa said – it’s not about whether you get knocked down, it’s whether you can get back up again! I’ve been hurt, I’ve been knocked down many times. But with hope as my anchor, I get back up each day striving to do good, ready to give my best.
Hope allows us to see light even in darkness. To know our best days are ahead, if we stay the course. Even when we feel far from perfect or skilled, hope carries us forward. So I hope the very best for each of you. Have hope in yourself and your potential.
The only limits are the ones you set. With hope as your guide, breakthroughs await. Make today great.
Go out and be a hope dealer – spread encouragement everywhere you go. And I hope to see you conquer new challenges soon.
If you’re finding these messages helpful, please subscribe!
Let’s stay hopeful together.
Good morning everyone! This is your Monday Motivation.
Today, I want to celebrate the power of teamwork. None of us can achieve greatness alone – we need others to make the dream work.
Bringing a group together in unity is challenging but so rewarding. Like Jesus and the twelve disciples, we all come from different walks of life. But under the right leadership, our diverse strengths harmonize.
To you admirable leaders out there, remember that your role is to serve the team. Stay humble, don’t seek praise. Uplift each person’s abilities. Help them fulfill their potential through purposeful collaboration.
And to all the team members following unashamed and unafraid – you are the backbone. Your cooperation and commitment creates synergy. Our shared human potential is unlocked when we support one another.
I’ve seen firsthand how beautiful things happen when a group comes together in flow. On the Spartan course or at church, teamwork leads to breakthroughs.
So find your team – at work, church, fitness, or beyond. Align on a mission, collaborate, and make it happen. With teamwork, we can achieve dreams bigger than ourselves. Unity magnifies our power.
Keep grinding together and uplifting each other. When a team discovers its shared purpose, magic unfolds. That’s my Monday Motivation – now get out there and be someone’s cheerleader!
Hey everyone, Mr. J’ean here with your Monday Motivation. Today I want to share a story that reveals an important mindset for facing life’s challenges.
There was a young racer at his first ever race. When he got to the Atlas stone station, he picked up the heavy stone and as he was carrying it, he asked his dad “Then what?” His dad just chuckled and said “You’ve got 5 burpees next.”
The racer didn’t stop or complain, he just immediately asked “What’s next?” That was it. “Then what?”
This question can apply to so many obstacles in life. Our brains often exaggerate how scary things are. But when we ask “then what?” we realize the answer is usually not so bad.
What if you lose your job? Then what? You’ve prepared an emergency fund to get you through. What if your car breaks down? Then what? You’ve saved money for repairs. What if you can’t finish an obstacle on the course? Then what? You do some burpees and keep going!
The “then what” is rarely as devastating as our minds predict. When you face your fears and go through challenges, you gain strength.
So my message today is to identify your “then whats” and go through them, not stay stuck in them. Deal with what you must and keep moving forward.
When you adopt this mindset, no obstacle can stop you. You become resilient, able to recover and grow. Your “then what” mindset prepares you to evolve and thrive in any circumstance. That’s true strength!
Face your fears, embrace the “then whats”, and unleash your full potential. You got this! Now get out there and conquer something new today.
Hey, it’s Mr. J’ean, and it’s that invigorating time for your Monday motivation! Let’s dive right into the heart of something we all cherish – relationships. I’ve had the absolute pleasure of connecting with amazing individuals like you, and our conversations have been pure gold. Those two-minute chats (2TM, as we like to call them) light up my day. But let’s talk about the real deal today – relationships.
Picture this: we all encounter those moments where we question a relationship, wondering why we’re even there. Trust me, I’ve been there too. My wise grandpa used to tell me that every situation is a lesson waiting to be learned. It’s up to us to extract the wisdom and ensure we don’t repeat the same story.
Now, to those in my relationship corner, let me tell you – I’m no easy catch! If we’re grabbing a bite, you can bet your sandwich it won’t be a cheap one. But here’s the nugget of wisdom for the week: your relationships should be your building blocks, not your wrecking balls.
Seek friends who uplift you, not those who bring you down. Remember, iron sharpens iron, and that applies to your energy too. If negativity is your dance partner, someone’s getting tired quick, and trust me, it shouldn’t be you.
Feeling intrigued? Dive into my book, “Transparency: 12 Weeks to the New You,” or simply tap the link in my bio. Your feedback is my inspiration, and to the person who asked about relationships, I hope this speaks to you.
Let’s conquer the week with relationships that light us up and growth that propels us forward. Until next time, be well and stay awesome! 🚀
